The waffle you sell decides the pack. A Belgian waffle sitting flat with toppings needs headroom and a flat base. A bubble waffle rolled into a cone needs to be held upright. A frozen retail waffle needs a coated carton that survives freezer humidity. There is no single waffle box, so this page runs through the formats and what each one has to solve.
Steam is the design problem
A waffle goes into the pack hot and keeps giving off steam. In a closed box that steam condenses on the inside of the lid and drips back onto the crust, which is exactly how a crisp waffle turns soft on a ten minute delivery ride. Practical answers are vent holes punched into the top panel, a closure that is not airtight, or a construction that leaves part of the waffle open to the air, such as a sleeve or a band. If your waffle is finished with sauce or ice cream, tell us, because that changes the grease and moisture load on the board.
Format by waffle
| Waffle style | Usual pack | What it has to do |
|---|---|---|
| Belgian or Liege, served flat | Vented clamshell or flat carton with a window | Keep toppings level, let steam out |
| Bubble or egg waffle, rolled | Cone holder or open sleeve | Hold the cone upright, keep the hand off the food |
| Waffle sandwich or stuffed waffle | Wrap plus printed band, or a small tuck carton | Contain filling, take grease without staining through |
| Waffle sticks and mini waffles | Scoop box or narrow carton | Portion control, one handed eating |
| Frozen retail waffles | Coated folding carton plus a corrugated shipper | Survive freezer humidity and cold chain transit |
Board, coating and print
Grease and moisture drive the board choice more than the graphics do. Tell us whether the waffle is packed plain, buttered, sauced or with ice cream, and we will confirm on the quote which board and coating we can run for that use. We do not certify regulatory compliance for food contact, so confirm the requirements that apply to your product and your jurisdiction. On print, remember that a hot food box gets held in a customer's hand within a minute of packing, so keep critical copy off the areas most likely to be smudged and put your name on the panel that faces up in a delivery bag.
Ordering, minimums and turnaround
The minimum is 100 boxes per design. That is low enough for a single stall or a seasonal menu item, and it means you can run one design now and add a second size later without a large commitment. Pricing starts from about $0.48 per unit at bulk volumes and is confirmed on your written quote. The die, the plates, design support, US shipping and a digital proof before printing are included.
Turnaround is stated per product across three lanes: rush (expedited production plus air freight), standard (air) and cost saver (sea). The floor is from about 7 business days plus 2 to 5 for delivery, and specialty imported items can run up to about 12 weeks. Rush adds a premium of about 7 to 25% depending on the job. Production runs at West Chicago in the US and Guangzhou in China, and we will tell you which plant is running your job.
Send the waffle style, how it is finished, the portion count per pack and your quantity through the quote form. If you sell more than waffles, the wider format list on custom food boxes covers the rest of a food menu.
