Custom Coin Boxes

Collectible and commemorative coins are among the highest value-per-gram products that any packaging will ever protect. A coin that arrives with surface marks, a toned area from contact with an incompatible insert material, or a disrupted mint bloom has lost a significant portion of its value before it is even examined. iBOX Factory produces custom coin boxes for numismatic publishers, mint houses, commemorative coin brands, and collectible coin retailers with inserts built from coin-safe materials, precision dimension control that holds every coin in a fixed display position, and exterior finishes that communicate collector quality from the first touch. From 100 units with free US shipping.

Description

Insert Material Safety for Precious and Base Metal Coins

Not all insert materials are safe for coin contact. Materials that off-gas or contain reactive compounds can cause toning, discoloration, or surface degradation on silver and copper coins. Materials with rough textures can create contact marks on proof surfaces. We use coin-safe insert materials that have been evaluated for chemical neutrality and surface compatibility with the specific coin metals in the order. The insert holds the coin in a display position without any risk of surface damage through the product’s lifetime in the box.

Dimension Control for Display-Position Presentation

A coin that sits loosely in its insert slides and rotates. The design faces away from the lid at presentation. The proof surface contacts the rim of the insert cavity and creates a wear mark. We produce coin box inserts to the coin’s actual diameter and thickness with tolerances that hold the coin in a fixed display position without applying clamping pressure that could mark the surfaces. The coin faces up when the box opens. The design is centered in the insert cavity. The presentation is exactly as the brand intended.

Lid Formats That Honor the Presentation Moment

The opening of a coin box is a moment that matters to a collector. A lift-off lid that reveals the coin in a single clean motion. A hinged lid that opens smoothly and holds in the fully open position. A drawer format for coin sets where each coin is revealed in sequence. We produce all three and guide the choice based on the coin series, the price point, and the collector audience. For commemorative coins, we plan the opening sequence before making any design decisions, ensuring the reveal becomes part of the product experience.

Certificate and Documentation Integration

Commemorative and limited edition coins typically include a certificate of authenticity, a numbered edition card, or production documentation. Furthermore, we integrate these into the box design in a dedicated position that keeps them flat and protected during transit. As a result, they remain part of the complete presentation instead of loose inserts that fall out when the box is opened. We design coin box interiors that accommodate documentation in dedicated flat sections with the same precision applied to the coin position.

Series Packaging Systems for Multi-Coin Collections

Coin series that release across multiple editions benefit from a packaging system where every edition shares the same exterior format and the edition-specific details change per release. A collector who purchases the first coin in a series receives packaging that will clearly belong to a unified collection as subsequent releases arrive. We build series packaging systems for coin brands from the first release so every subsequent edition looks like it belongs to the same premium collection.

Artwork Preparation Guide

Cut Line (Black Line)

Indicates the cut at its final size. Important artwork and text should be placed at least 0.125 inches inside of the cut line.

Perforation (Dotted Black Lines)

Perforation line refers to paper that is punched with very small holes to allow the paper to be torn and folded easily.

Bleed Line (Red Lines)

Indicates where the bleed line is located. Any artwork which goes to the cut line should be extended to the bleed line to get a seamless print.

Crease Line (Green Lines)

Indicates where the product is to be folded.

Safety Margin (Dotted Green Lines)

Indicates where artwork and text should safely be placed inside. As an industry standard, all artwork should at least be placed 0.125 inches away from the cut line unless your design is intentional.
