Hair removal wax comes in several quite different formats and the packaging question changes with each one. This guide covers how to specify the carton and what to tell us. The custom wax boxes page is where you order.
Match the carton to the primary pack
| Primary pack | Carton shape | The sizing catch |
|---|---|---|
| Bead pouch | Rectangular carton, often with a flat base | A filled pouch slumps, so measure it filled and standing |
| Tin or can | Snug carton or a collar, often square section | The rim or lip is wider than the body |
| Pot or tub | Tuck end carton sized to the lid | A tapered tub is widest at the top |
| Cartridge or roll on | Slim carton or a multi cartridge tray | The head is wider than the barrel |
| Strips and kits | Flat carton with a partition or tray | Depth is set by the thickest component, often the applicator |
Grease, heat and what the carton can honestly do
Wax residue stains board, and a stained box looks like a leaking product even when nothing has leaked. Keep the wax properly sealed in its primary pack, and if there is any risk of contact, specify a coated or laminated board that resists marking. Heat is the other variable: wax softens and a carton that fits perfectly at room temperature can bulge after a warm week in a warehouse. Allow a little clearance rather than a press fit, and avoid a design where a bulging pack would tear a tight window.
What buyers read on the box
Professional and consumer wax buyers look for the same few things quickly: the wax type, what it is for, the format, the net quantity and how it is used. Design the front panel around those, and keep the instructions panel large enough for real type rather than the smallest size that fits. A kit carton should say what is in the kit on the face, because that is the question a shopper asks first.
Materials and construction
Standard white cardstock prints the photographic and colour led work this category uses. Kraft eco friendly brown cardstock suits a natural or salon positioning and prints well in one or two inks. Corrugated stock is the right call for a heavy professional pack or a carton that also ships. Rigid press board suits a premium salon kit. Available finishes include gloss and matte lamination, spot UV, foil stamping and embossing.
For a heavier tin or a multi piece kit, specify a stronger base. A plain tuck bottom will eventually give way under weight; a crash lock or auto bottom base, or a glued seal end carton, holds up in a shop and in a fulfilment line.
