Jewelry packaging is a small-format problem with a high expectation attached. The shell is simple. The interior does the work, and the branding has to survive on a panel a few inches wide.
Match the interior to the piece
| Piece | Interior that holds it | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Ring | Slotted pad or a split cushion | The slot has to grip without stretching the band's finish |
| Pendant or chain | Flat pad with a notch or hook | Stops the chain pooling and tangling in transit |
| Earrings | Pad with punched holes or a card insert | Card inserts double as a display when hung |
| Bracelet or bangle | Raised form or a deeper pad | Needs internal height that a ring box does not have |
| Watch | Cushion or pillow insert | Deeper box, and the cushion sets the internal depth |
Send the piece's dimensions, or tell us during the quote conversation that you have a sample, and design support will spec the interior along with the shell. Insert options are covered on insert packaging.
Shell construction
Three constructions cover most wholesale jewelry orders. A rigid two piece box, base and lid, is the traditional look and ships assembled. A drawer box gives a sliding reveal and suits sets. A folding carton with a printed sleeve is the lowest cost per unit and ships flat, which matters when you are buying thousands. Nothing about the piece inside requires rigid construction; it is a presentation choice, so price both.
Branding on a tiny panel
On a box a few inches across, detailed artwork disappears. What works is a single mark, executed well: foil stamped, blind embossed, or printed in one color on a textured wrap. Save the storytelling for a card insert, which gives you a full printable surface at almost no cost. Read embossed boxes for what artwork holds up at small sizes.
Freight, not board, is the wholesale variable
Jewelry boxes are small and light, so board cost per unit is modest. What moves your landed cost is that rigid boxes arrive assembled and take up volume. On a large order, ask for a flat-shipping construction to be quoted alongside the rigid one, and ask for the cost saver sea lane if your date allows it. Turnaround is quoted per product across rush (expedited production plus air freight, adding roughly 7 to 25 percent), standard (air) and cost saver (sea). Production starts from about 7 business days plus 2 to 5 days for delivery, and specialty imported constructions can run up to about 12 weeks.
Minimum and what is included
The minimum is 100 boxes per size and artwork, and a ring box and a pendant box are two sizes. Bulk pricing starts from about $0.48 per unit, with the real figure on your written quote. The cutting die, printing plates, design support, US shipping and a digital proof are included, and production waits for your written proof approval. Manufacturing is at West Chicago in the US and Guangzhou in China.
