Component measurement

Inserts and retention
- Die cut board fitment: cheapest, recyclable with the carton, good for flat palettes.
- Die cut foam: precise, premium feel, takes internal depth.
- Vacuum formed tray: exact fit and visible components, adds a plastic stream.
- Moulded pulp: volume friendly, needs a consistent component shape.

Shade accuracy, the thing to check at proof
If your artwork shows shade swatches, they are the hardest element on the box to get right, because a printed swatch and a pressed powder are different materials. Two practical steps. Flag the swatch areas at quote stage so they are watched on press. And check them on the digital proof against physical product, since the proof is included on every order and it is the cheapest point to catch a shade that reads wrong.
Refills and range extensions
If you sell refill pans as well as palettes, specify both at the same time so the refill carton shares the board, the finish and the artwork grid with the palette it belongs to. Keeping the shade name in an isolated area of the artwork also means a new shade needs a change to that area rather than a redesign of the whole carton.
