Before anyone can name a size, settle how the monitor travels. The same 27 inch panel needs three different cartons depending on whether it ships bare with caps, ships in its retail box inside a plain outer, or goes out stacked on a pallet. Each route sets a different constraint.
Pick the route first
| How it ships | What the box has to do | The measurement that drives it |
|---|---|---|
| Bare panel, single parcel | Hold the panel off every wall with shaped end caps and survive a corner drop | Panel width and height with bezel, depth with the stand detached, plus cap thickness |
| Retail box inside a shipping outer | Protect the printed box so it arrives saleable, with even void space on all faces | External dimensions of the retail box, plus cushioning depth per face |
| Palletised, multiple units | Carry stacking load without crushing and fit the pallet footprint cleanly | Carton external size divided into a 48 x 40 in pallet with no overhang |
| Returns and refurbishment | Open and reclose without tape, several times | Same as the outer, plus a reclosable closure and a tear strip you can live without |
Measure the thing you are actually putting in
This sounds obvious and it is the most common mistake in the category. If the monitor arrives to you in a retail box, the shipping carton is sized around the retail box, so measure that box externally and add cushioning. If you are packing a bare panel, take the stand off first, because monitors nearly always ship with the stand and base flat in their own cavity.
Why loose fill will not do
A monitor is a large rigid plane with a fragile face. Loose fill lets it migrate to one side during transit, and then a single corner impact goes straight through the panel. Shaped end caps in EPS or molded pulp hold the corners and keep the face away from every wall. Size the carton around the capped assembly and expect double wall board once the panel gets large.
The cost question behind the size
Every extra inch on a carton this size costs you twice, once in board and once in dimensional weight on every parcel for the life of the SKU. Work out the annual parcel volume, then decide whether a slightly tighter cap design pays for itself. It usually does.
Minimum, price and turnaround
Minimum order is 100 boxes, from about $0.48 per unit at bulk volumes, confirmed on your written quote. Die and plates, design support, US shipping and a digital proof before anything prints are included. We quote three lanes: Rush (expedited production plus air freight), Standard (air) and Cost saver (sea), with a floor of from about 7 business days, plus 2 to 5 for delivery, and specialty imported items running up to about 12 weeks. Rush adds about 7 to 25%, depending on the job. We produce in West Chicago in the US and in Guangzhou in China.
If you need to convert a screen diagonal into real panel dimensions, how to size a monitor box shows the arithmetic. Otherwise send the packed assembly measurements and your shipping route to /quote/ and we will quote the carton and the caps together.
